How To Study The Bible : Is Your Walk Motivated By Obligation Or By Love Through The Holy Spirit
In the third message in the "How To Study The Bible" message series, Pastor Chris examines the purpose of the Old Testament which was to give the law to God's people and how the law was fulfilled in Jesus's death and resurrection in the New Testament.  When your relationship with God is motivated by a list of dos or don'ts, your attitude and your heart are very different when your walk is out of love powered by the Holy Spirit.

    Humility
    Series: Stand Alone
In this message, elder Curt looks at a subject that many of us struggle with which is pride. If we are honest with ourselves, we all struggle with pride to some degree. Curt encourages us to embrace the virtue of humility as we gain the understanding of who we are in light of who God is as we live our lives for His glory.

What’s in Christmas : The Good News
In the final message of our What's in Christmas message series, elder Brent looks at a problem that no one likes to address this time of year, but this problem separates us from God, relationships, and good things. The problem is sin. Sin entered the world through one man, Adam. God's solution to our sin was to send His Son, Jesus, to live a perfect life on earth and overcome death. Jesus willingly accepted the mission that God placed before Him. If you are a Christ-follower, God has a mission for you as well, to tell others about the gift God has given to each of us. If you are not a Christ-follower and want to know how to become one, you can call the church office at 815-561-6249 or send an email to questions@lwccr.com.

    What’s in Christmas : Hope
In our Christmas Eve service, elder Brent focuses on the hope that Christmas brings. We tend to place our hope in many things, yet the hope that Christmas brings is the hope that something certain is going to happen that hasn't yet come to pass. When your hope is anchored in Jesus Christ, you have an unmovable hope. May we, as Christ-followers share the hope we have in Jesus with strangers, friends, and family not only at Christmastime but all year long.

    What’s in Christmas : Joy
In this message, elder Brent illuminates that in the busyness of the Christmas season, we often lose focus as we scramble to make this season perfect for those around us. In the made dash to please others we often lose sight of the only thing that can bring us genuine joy, which is Jesus. Joy is not an emotion like happiness. We can not manufacture it in our own power and yet it is the very gift from God that allows us to shine Christ's light, especially when things don't go the way we plan. May God help us to stay focused on Him this Christmas season, so that through our joy we can shine bright for His glory and point other's to Him.

    What’s In Christmas : Planning
In the second message of our What's In Christmas series, elder Brent shares with us the importance of planning and obeying God's calling on our lives. Brent examined Matthew 1:18-25, which was the account of Joseph and Mary's betrothal and Joseph's reaction when he learned his betrothed was pregnant. Joseph was an ordinary man willing to be used by an extraordinary God. Our challenge is to determine how we display Christian character in every aspect of our lives especially when our lives take unplanned turns. Are we willing to obey God like Joseph did, even when we are asked to do incredibly hard things? May God give us the power through His mighty Holy Spirit to obey Him no matter what the cost.

    What’s In Christmas : Lights
In the first message of our What's In Christmas series, elder Brent illuminates the importance of being the light of Jesus in this dark world. When we see the beautiful Christmas lights shining this holiday season, may they remind us of God and His goodness and our responsibility to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
